Luciana Paoluzzi, as well as Maria Rota Paoluzzi were raised in Rome. Luciana Paoluzzi is the daughter of Manlio Paoluzzi (an Italian military officer) and Maria Rota Paoluzzi (a mistress to Benito Mussolini). She does not have any known siblings. Her high school was a neighborhood school and upon matriculating in 1955 she studied naval engineering at the Scientific Academy of Milan - Luciana was the only woman in the class. After two years of modeling, she was offered a role in Three Coins in the Fountain. The film was her debut. Brett Halsey, an actor herself, was her first husband. The couple got married in the year 1960 and produced the film Return to the Peyton Palace. The couple had a son named Charles born on June 13, 1961. They divorced just a year after the birth of Charles and Luciana received custody. Luciana was involved in a romantic affair with Tony Anthony between 1962 until 1970. He was an actor and producer who was inspired to write and produce The Spaghetti Western hybrid based on her character as Green Slime.
